Court Appointed Special Advocates of Ulster County (CASA), Kingston

CASA of Ulster County promotes the best interests of children in the Family Court system that have been abused or neglected by their parents or guardians. With financial assistance from The Foundation and others, CASA is recruiting, screening, training and supervising 15 additional volunteers n 2009. It will ensure each volunteer is well versed in the operation of the Family Court system and will provide the Judges and attorneys involved in a case with thorough, objective and accurate information in their formal report to the Court. CASA is providing advocacy services to at least 50 additional children this year, substantially increasing the number of children served. The geographic scope of the project is Ulster County which continues to see an increase in its population. Due to this growth, the number of those involved in trans-generational substance abuse and homelessness has expanded.
