Workers’ Rights Law Center of New York, Inc., Kingston

A grant was awarded to this organization in 2006 for its Immigrant Women Workers Project which allows WRLC to better serve the women workers in New York’s Hudson Valley. The Project works toward this goal by holding “know your rights” workshops for immigrant women workers, focusing on women’s right to work in an environment free of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and gender discrimination. The Project also focuses on providing legal assistance to women workers and represented 80 women during the past year.

The Workers’ Rights Law Center provides free legal services to low-wage workers struggling to enforce their rights in the workplace; contributes to the empowerment of workers by educating them about their labor and civil rights; works with local and national organizations to advocate for reform on behalf of low-wage workers. The Center services Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Columbia and Greene Counties.
