The New York Bar Foundation Accepting Applications for Grants Until Sept. 30
Nonprofit organizations providing legal services in New York State are invited to apply for New York Bar Foundation grants by midnight on Sept. 30. Applications are available at www.tnybf.org/grants-scholarships.
In 2026, the Foundation will focus its grantmaking on programs that help low-income individuals with the essentials of life, including housing stability and homelessness prevention, access to quality education, family and domestic safety, support for small businesses and economic sufficiency, and legal advocacy for veterans.
“In these challenging times, through our grant partners, we empower communities, launch vital programs, and meet urgent legal needs that improve lives across New York,” said Foundation President Justice Cheryl E. Chambers. “We use our resources to help grantees achieve the greatest possible impact, and we are grateful to the donors—especially our Fellows—who make this work possible.”
The Foundation is one of the few organizations in New York State dedicated to awarding law-related grants to nonprofit organizations. Grants are directed to programs that provide legal assistance to low-income New Yorkers with unmet legal needs.
“We fund programs that deliver tangible results,” said Lucia B. Whisenand, Chair of the Foundation’s Grants Review Committee. “The right grant at the right time can help an organization expand its reach and deepen its impact.”
